Mr. Prabhakaran was born in Salem, Tamil Nadu and completed Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

He became involved in the mining industry in 1993, working as a contractor for Hindustan Copper and India Cements for several years. In 2000, Prabhakaran was involved in an iron ore mining project with the Indian state of Odisha.

His passion, adaptability, fearlessness, and relentless determination define an exceptional entrepreneur. Prabhakaran embodies these traits, solidifying his reputation as a corporate leader. His unique genius lies in recognizing opportunities within challenges. With 25 years of business leadership experience, he excels in all aspects of business formation, operation, finance, management, and aviation.

Mr. Prabhakaran envisions equal opportunities for all, transforming workers into shareholders.

Under his guidance, Thriveni became India’s largest mine developer and operator, with a turnover of $350 million. He recently became a shareholder in Lloyds, which now boasts a market cap of $3 billion. His leadership extends to India’s first state-of-the-art facility for mining equipment and a separate aviation vertical with a fleet of four aircraft, employing over 8000 people globally.

In the early 2000s, foreseeing a growing demand for sea-borne iron ore, Mr Prabhakaran developed a transformative model. Unlike competitors seeking leases, he developed ore bodies on his balance sheet. Collaborating with 15 Odisha lease holders, he became India’s largest iron ore player within four years. Establishing a skill training academy for impacted tribals, he empowered locals to start small-scale enterprises and established Asia’s largest heavy equipment rebuilding center, saving the country over USD 4 billion in foreign exchange. He also fostered continuous innovation in heavy equipment.

Diversifying into coal, gold, barytes, and downstream operations, Mr Prabhakaran invested across geographies, addressing challenges faced by impacted Odisha iron ore lease holders. To avoid layoffs, he identified Surjagarh, an iron ore body in the Naxalite-infested Gadchiroli District, and developed a clear vision to invest in downstream businesses, including an establishment of 7.5milion ton of integrated steel plant within investment of Rs.50,000 crores.

Mr. Prabhakaran has a passion for flying, and has mastered the art of handling both the airplanes and the helicopters. He holds a private pilot license (PPL) for both types of machines and having flown the Cessna-152, Cessna-172 and Pilatus PC12 aircraft. Having aviation experience for more than 10 years and flown Pilatus aircraft more than 1600 plus hours. Thus the aviation vertical as of his business was a natural outcome.

பத்திருபது ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு பொருளாதாரத்திலும் தொழில்துறையிலும் பின் தங்கியிருந்த பெரம்பலூரில் மிகச்சிறிய அளவில் மிதிவண்டியில் தொடங்கிய அஸ்வின்ஸ்’ன் இனிப்புப் பயணம், இன்று வானூர்தியில் பறந்து, வெளிநாடுகள் வரை தன் தடத்தை அழுத்தமாகப் பதித்து, இத்தனை குறுகிய காலத்தில் பெரிய நிறுவனமாக வளர்ந்து நிற்பதற்கு பின்னால் அதன் நிறுவனரான திரு. She has also been educating the parents of the government school children on being open and receptive to the child’s needs and safety. They have impacted more than 3000 students across 30 different government schools so far in 2024.

Ms.Akshaya also partners with schools and colleges across Tamil Nadu to help train students on soft skills to make them job ready. She also helps students who aspire to study abroad with their GMAT preparation and the application process

Given her love for backpacking, she has traveled to 30+ counties and believes that traveling is one of the best forms of education. She is a big foodie and particularly enjoys exploring the roadu kadai.

At Yi: An alliance with Yi Salem was started around February 2023 by Ms.Rebecca Herbert. In the past year, it has been a great journey and opportunity to give back what best can be to the society. Also, being in the Massom vertical, it has been a pleasure to educate children on different safety programs. Being the first certified Massom trainer, the responsibility of being the Massom Chair for Yi Salem this year has been assigned. The hope and dream to provide all possible assistance in nurturing young children towards positiveness and self morale are expressed.
